Monitor, the performance analyzer for UNIX systems, is a unique,graphically based software package that provides dynamic information onthe performance of all aspects of the UNIX operating system.Monitor provides statistics on the CPU, including which processes areconsuming various proportions of CPU resources, and how much mathcoprocessor emulation is required by the host CPU. Monitor shows wherememory is allocated (application and system), and details the balancebetween user, system disk buffer, and free memory. Monitor shows diskperformance, including the degree of data fragmentation for files, filesystems, and disks. Monitor also summarizes all performance data in onescreen, highlighting areas where bottlenecks exist and tuning isrequired.
